Single Moms

I am essentially a single mom this week. My husband is out of town on the west coast for the entire week for an education symposium. I was looking forward to this week in the sense that I get to spend a lot of time with my noah bear, but on the other hand, I was kind of dreading doing it all alone. He left on Sunday around 11am, and so I am going on about 36 hours by myself...and let me just say, it's TOUGH! I always new it must be hard to be a single mom, but the reality of it all is, it is hard.

Now, I know some mom's have some laid back babies, but I was not blessed with such a temperment. I love Noah dearly, but I would regard him as "high maintenance". I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, and I don't view it as negative, just different. He just requires a lot of holding and moving around and doesn't like one particular thing for more than 15 minutes at a time. This makes it very tricky when you pretty much have the options of going for a walk, playing in the exersaucer, sitting in the high chair, playing on the play mat, or being held. The latter of which he prefers. Also, going for a walk has not been much of an option lateley because temps have been in the 100's. However, today was rather cool (by cool I mean low 90s) so we did get out for a walk.

Mr. Noah had his 6 month well check-up today, which I had to go to by myself. So far he has done really well with his shots, just cries when he gets them, but seems to settle down once I pick him up. Today was about the same, except for the fact that we were at the pediatricians office for 2 hours!! 2 hours!! I was livid (but I still put on a smile for the office staff and remarked under my breath about the long wait). Apparantely the doctors weren't back up, but they had a bunch of nurses quit, so we litterally waited over 45 mins for the shots alone..grrr! He checked out well, in fact, he was checked out twice. This is because they had a PA student shadowing the PA we saw, and she was very friendly. He is quite the ham for the ladies, but when a man tries to talk to him, he tends to give a more stern look. He is 16 1/2 lbs and 26 inches long! We are going to start solids next week, can't wait!
