Summer

I am not planning on going into details about my job, but what I will say is that I am a pharmacist and work as a faculty member at a University. Being in the healthcare industry is tough, mainly because we tend to have pretty bad hours. That is one of the main reasons I got into academia, for the flexibility. Thankfully, I had 12 weeks of 100% paid maternity leave. Of course, I had to use up 4 weeks of my paid vacation, but nonetheless, I am happy to have spent those days with Noah.

At my job, we are actually able to take up to 24 weeks of maternity leave. With up to 12 weeks paid. I would have LOVED to have taken that much time, but unfortanately I am the bread winner in our family, and since we bought a house last May, we could never afford it. Not only that, but I have an extraordinary amount of student loans, around $100K (yikes!). I was able to work out that I only work part-time for this summer only, 3 days a week. So, I work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This is a great schedule and I am truly loving being home those extra few days. I feel very sad when I start thinking about going back full-time, and therefore I am constantly reminded of finding my "contenment" with what God has blessed me with.

I could drone on and on about work, my likes and dislikes. But I'll save that for a later post.
